Billing problems that quietly drain practices
Most revenue loss isn’t one big failure. It’s small, repeated gaps that nobody has time to chase.
Denials pile up unworked
Rejected claims sit in a queue while filing windows close.
Underpayments go unnoticed
Payers pay less than contracted and nobody catches it.
Coding errors trigger rejections
Small modifier and code mistakes stall payment for weeks.
Staff time disappears
Your team spends hours on hold instead of with patients.
Fourteen services, one connected revenue cycle
Pick the full revenue cycle or just the pieces you need. Either way, it’s the same in-house team and the same reporting.

Two ways to run billing. Here’s an honest comparison.
Plenty of practices run billing well in-house. This compares the operating models, so you can decide what fits your practice.
| Item | In-house billing | |
|---|---|---|
| Staffing & coverage | In-house: Depends on your hires; PTO, sick days and turnover need a backup plan. | MBSG: A dedicated in-house MBSG billing team with a named point of contact. |
| Coding & claim scrubbing | In-house: Handled alongside front-desk and admin duties. | MBSG: Specialty-aware coding review and scrubbing before every submission. |
| Denial follow-up | In-house: Competes with daily priorities; aged denials can slip past filing limits. | MBSG: Worked for root cause, corrected and resubmitted; trends reported. |
| Underpayment checks | In-house: Requires time to compare payments with expected amounts. | MBSG: Payments posted and checked against expected amounts. |
| Reporting | In-house: Built by staff as time allows. | MBSG: Regular, readable reports on collections, A/R aging and denials. |
| Cost structure | In-house: Salaries, benefits, training, software and turnover costs. | MBSG: Scoped in writing after the free health check, based on volume and specialty. |
| Visibility & control | In-house: Full direct control of every task. | MBSG: You keep visibility: responsibilities and reporting agreed before the first claim. |

One team, one point of contact
What we won’t promise
No guaranteed collection rates, no invented timelines, no credentials we don’t hold. Just what we find, what we’ll do, and plain reporting on results.
A billing partner, not just a vendor
We learn how your practice actually runs (your specialties, your payers, your workflows), then build the billing process around them.
Clean claims, first time
Coding and scrubbing happen before submission, not after rejection.
Denials worked, not written off
Each denial is traced to its root cause, corrected and resubmitted.
Underpayments caught
Payments are checked against expected amounts so short-pays get flagged.
A/R you can actually see
Regular reporting on collections, aging and denials, in plain language.
One team, one point of contact
Our in-house billing team, not a subcontractor, with a named contact.

Physician-led medical billing
MBSG was founded by Dr. Imran Khan, MD, MPH, a physician with a public-health background. That perspective shapes how we bill: accurate coding that reflects the care documented, compliance built into the workflow, and reporting a practice can actually act on, delivered by our own in-house team across 30+ specialties in all 50 states.
- Clinical context. Coding and claims are reviewed with an understanding of the care behind them.
- Compliance first. A BAA is signed before any patient data is shared.
- Plain reporting. You see what we found, what we did, and where every claim stands.
- 7+ yearsof medical billing experience
- 30+ specialtiessupported by one in-house team
- All 50 statesremote billing support
What practices say about working with us
A featured review from a client practice we work with.
“MBSG has been a great company to work with. Lucy is professional, responsive, and always willing to help whenever we need support. She understands our needs, gets things done promptly, and makes every process easy to understand. I highly recommend MBSG for reliable partners and professional RCM services.”
Compliance treated as operations, not a badge
We don’t claim a “HIPAA certification” or display badges we haven’t earned. Instead, here’s exactly how we handle your data.
BAA before PHI
A Business Associate Agreement is executed before any protected health information is shared.
No PHI on web forms
Our forms never ask for patient details. Claim samples move only via an approved secure transfer.
Encrypted in transit
Forms and site traffic are served over HTTPS.
Restricted access
Administrative access is limited to the people who need it.

What do medical billing services include?
Medical billing services cover the work between a patient visit and final payment: eligibility and prior authorization checks, medical coding, charge entry, claim scrubbing and submission, payment posting, denial management, A/R follow-up and reporting. MBSG can run the full revenue cycle or take on specific pieces, such as denial management or credentialing, depending on what your practice needs.
How does outsourced medical billing work for a small practice?
You keep seeing patients; our in-house billing team handles claims, denials and follow-up remotely. We start with a free billing health check, agree on scope in writing, sign a Business Associate Agreement, and move over in phases so cash flow is not disrupted. You get a named point of contact and regular reports.
How is pricing set?
Pricing is based on your claim volume, payer mix and specialty, and is put in writing in your tailored plan after the free health check. We do not publish guaranteed rates or collection percentages. See our pricing approach.
Is the billing health check really free? Do I need to send patient data?
Yes, it is free and there is no obligation. The request form never asks for patient information. If claim samples are needed later, they are shared only after a BAA is signed, through a separate secure transfer we set up with you.
Do you sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA)?
Yes. A BAA is executed before any protected health information is shared. Our security approach is described on the HIPAA & Security page.
Which specialties and states do you support?
We support 30+ specialties, from cardiology and orthopedics to behavioral health and anesthesia, and practices anywhere in the 50 states can work with us remotely.
How long does the transition take?
Transitions are phased and scoped in your written plan, based on your claim volume, payers and current systems. We agree the timing with you before anything moves, so claims keep going out during the handoff.
Will you guarantee a collection rate?
No. We do not promise guaranteed collection rates or invented timelines. We show you what we find, what we will do about it, and report the results plainly.
